I still can’t believe we grew these beautiful fl I still can’t believe we grew these beautiful flowers! The kids and I had fun picking out the flowers to cut and bring inside…and we all collectively screamed when a spider casually crawled off one of the blooms.

One of our first zinnias and three varieties of hydrangea- endless summer, limelight, and quick fire.
First time growing zinnias from seed! I started so First time growing zinnias from seed! I started some indoors and I directly sowed others. They both have survived despite sporadic watering and general neglect due to travel. 🥴

The first photo is the State Fair Mix variety. The blooms are so much larger than I expected! (Approx. 4 inches wide.) The second photo is the Purple Prince variety. They are both beautiful.

Thanks for the recommendation @lchilcave 🤗
It’s no secret that hydrangeas are my absolute f It’s no secret that hydrangeas are my absolute favorite. They keep blooming for months and look great in the garden….and in the house.

This arrangement includes hydrangea macrophylla, two varieties of hydrangea paniculata, and my first two dahlias from @sunnymeadowsflowerfarm

What hydrangeas…or dahlias are you growing in your garden? I’m always looking for recommendations! Happy gardening. :)
We were out of town for a few days and came home t We were out of town for a few days and came home to an overflowing garden. This area is in full swing- nasturtium, mini pumpkins, tomatoes, dahlias, zinnias, and more all doing their thing.
Waiting on the first Nelly Moser clematis bloom. 🌸 The blooms will be up to 8 inches wide!

All of the info about trellises are in the Behind the Garage highlight.
Butternut squash is one of my favorite veggies to Butternut squash is one of my favorite veggies to roast- probably tied with sweet potatoes and Brussels sprouts.

Because of their size and tough exterior, they are a little more intimidating to roast. If you have ever tried to cut one in half, you know exactly what I’m talking about.

I have a secret trick...I prick the squash with a fork and pop it in the microwave for three minutes. It loosens the skin and makes it waaaay easier to cut...and it reduces the roasting time. Win, win, win!

For the whole roasted butternut squash ‘how to,’ head on over to the blog. I guarantee you will want to roast some veggies tonight. (Link in bio.)
Happy sunny Friday! 🌞 Yesterday, I used some l Happy sunny Friday! 🌞

Yesterday, I used some leftover dried citrus and fresh clippings to cheer up our mantel. I thought it looked nice, so then I went a little crazy and started adding dried citrus to just about every surface of our house. (Good thing our kids are fast or they would be wearing dried grapefruit medallion necklaces right now.) 😂

I documented all of the citrus bedazzling over in my stories.

And if you are thinking you want to get crafty with dried oranges this weekend, there’s an easy guide to drying citrus on the website. (Link in the bio.)

I hope you have a great weekend. :)
Little snow caps on the hydrangea macrophylla. Th Little snow caps on the hydrangea macrophylla.

There’s no doubt that summer is my favorite season, but these little guys sure look cute all dressed up for winter.

On the blog, I am sharing my plans for this north facing space.

Spoiler alert- it includes another hydrangea. Link is in the bio.
Snow day! We woke up to this beautiful blanket of Snow day!

We woke up to this beautiful blanket of the white stuff. The kids can’t wait to get out there and play and I am grateful for a day off of virtual learning. Cue the happy music.

There’s a new post on the blog today. It’s breaking down my plans for the north facing area behind our house. I explain how to break an area up into separate zones, how to maintain sight lines from your home, plant selection, and the basic thought process that goes into developing a new garden space.

So, grab a cup of coffee, turn on the happy music, and head over to the blog for some garden planning goodness. Link in bio.
